Nebraska Football 2023

This will be a huge early test for the Nebraska football program. Two big road games to start the season, I don't ever recall that happening before. Finally a home game next week. One thing of note the Huskers have had two more days of rest than the Buffs. But this early in the season it might not matter.

Well, nice to see so far Colorado shooting themselves in the foot. They're moving the ball but they have like 50 yards of penalties in one drive. Huskers should have 3 or 7 points already, but still 0.

The Husker defense looks impressive so far. If the offense can even get some success scoring . A win is possible. Otherwise it's another loss.

In the last half century of disappointment I can't think of another NU QB this bad through only two games. Sims has absolutely no business being under center. There's no way either backup plays as poorly.

Think Sims one of those players that when in practice plays really well, but in an actual game feels the pressure and can't produce. Rhule's got big time quarterback problems for sure. That he must fix to salvage the season. Why did Casey Thompson leave ?

It's a good old fashioned blowout. As was said, there's a huge problem at QB. Defense looked fine until they lost hope. Hard to keep doing your part with 4 turnovers.

I think the defense is the strength, but I really do think the Skers ran into a buzz saw today. I'm completely surprised it was 0-0 after the first.

I'm actually surprised it ended up worse than I thought.

Thompson left because Rhule & Co. wanted a QB who could run. Thompson had some injury issues, didn't want to run and wanted to sit in the pocket. Also it's well documented that Sims hasn't played well in practice. Accountability needs to start with coaching as this was another winnable game with poor execution by Sims giving away the game. The backups should have been put in well before desperation. Defense again plays well in spite of the largely poor offensive performance. Rhule & Satterfield need to take the heat for unacceptable QB play. Nebraska isn't going to win any time soon with an un-coachable QB. Sims needs to be moved to another position or Rhule should be fired.

I know it's sacrilegious, but I really think Colorado has the juice. They proved they can cream Nabraska in three quarters, and they're in the Pac12. Maybe USC will give em trouble. It's really very impressive and fun to watch and all the hype in the country is behind Colorado.

Maybe give some of the other quarterbacks a shot. If Sims continues to play it's going to be hard to watch this team the next 10 weeks. A lot of folks may start tuning them out.

Nebraska is 38-57 since Pete Ricketts became governor. They were 81-12-1 with 3 NCs under Ben Nelson.

Not a coincedence.

On the bright side, next week's opponent Northern Illinois just lost to 1-AA Southern Illinois.

So they'll prob be favored by 13.5 and still find a way to lose at home.

Deion Sanders is 29-6 as a head coach in college football winning 82% of his games. 3 of those losses coming in his first year at Jackson State. He and his Buffaloes are the biggest story in college football right now.

If Rhule can find a way to start Sims in a wheel chair or something, yeah probably, otherwise, if the backups play there's a betting chance.

Or yet, still the biggest hype. I'll bet they'll be exposed when they play a team with a solid defense and an offense with a QB who doesn't turn the ball over 6 times in 6 quarters.

I forgot to mention after the game that the defense actually is good. They proved that against Colorado despite the score. The offense kept them on the field way too long and I don't blame the defense.

But yeah, whatever I say, think, or feel won't help or hurt the Huskers. I honestly have already lost interest in this season, which is unfortunate. I took three gamedays off, one remaining to be had, and I don't believe I'll be taking anymore off. There's just nothing positive I get from watching the Huskers. I hope they get better to the point they're worth watching, because I grew up with the huskers at least being good/decent. It was something to look forward to. Whereas now... you know.

Colorado has some meaningful games coming up and I wouldn't doubt (no pun intended) they'll get some prime time slots. They're the biggest story in football right now and though I'm a husker fan, how could I not be excited for them? I'm not taking any time off to watch Colorado, but I certainly wish the huskers were half as good/entertaining as Colorado. It is what it is.
