Re: Nebraska Football 2023
Not gonna lie, I'm pretty surprised. Huskers up 17-7 at the half. So far the team has looked pretty decent except for that rushed drive. I like Haarberg so far, haven't really seen much of him until tonight. He is a run and pass threat and looks strong. And it was good to see Sims pumping him up. I think Haarberg might be our starter the rest of the year and maybe the next two. Glad he finally got his chance.

Eh, Illinois hasn’t shown much this year, if anything, that the program has regressed this year. Still seem to be a bottom tier team, the ones Nebraska should start beating.Busguy2010 wrote: Fri Oct 06, 2023 9:03 pm Not gonna lie, I'm pretty surprised. Huskers up 17-7 at the half.

It'd still be 3 wins if it happens.CBJason wrote: Fri Oct 06, 2023 10:09 pmEh, Illinois hasn’t shown much this year, if anything, that the program has regressed this year. Not a bad arm punt there.

If they do win tonight, I'll feel much more confident they can scratch up a 6 win season, and that'd be a first since 2016.

The Nebraska Defense deserves the credit for this win. The offense is not pretty. Nebraska gets first conference win. Need to find 3 more wins for a bowl.

Re: Nebraska Football 2023
I'm honestly completely surprised. After that azz whoopin Illinois put on the boys last year, I thought this would be a close loss. I'm happy with the result. But as CB Jason said, I guess Illinois just isn't what it was last year.
But still, cause for a small celebration. Havent been .500 6 games in since 2016

Next week, Nebraska has a bye. But after that, they play Northwestern.

Re: Nebraska Football 2023
Soooo sorry to see that the Colorado Buffalos blew a 29 point halftime lead last night to lose at home to 13 point underdog Stanford in overtime.
It was the largest lead a Buffalo team had ever blown.
A certain football coach may just not be ready for “Prime” time after all.

Re: Nebraska Football 2023
Yesterday, #7 ranked Washington and #8 ranked Oregon played each other. It came down to the wire. Washington was leading 36-33. Oregon tried to kick a field goal to tie the game and send it into overtime, but the kicker missed. So Washington held on and won. So now Oregon's no longer undefeated.

Re: Nebraska Football 2023
It's been a while since I've felt like making a prediction... but after the win last game, and an "easy" upcoming next new weeks, I have some hope for the Huskers! Enough that, since I was in the market for a new hat, I actually went with the Huskers over my pro teams. Might actually be able to be proud of them in public soon lol
So for this weekend's game, the opponent is Northwestern, the battle for NU. Both teams coming off a win and a bye, both 3-3, I think its shaping up to be your typical NU-NU match. Most of the games historically have been close and ugly. And I think this one will be no different. Nebraska is statistically better in almost all facets of the game and is favored about 70%. I'm gonna go with Nebraska ugly 13-6

I'm reading Nebraska as 11.5 point favorites. Seems aggressive, and I think Busguy is much closer to the accurate point total.

I haven't forgotten what happened 10 years ago when Nebraska beat Northwestern on that last-second Hail Mary. That was a pretty wild and crazy finish to the game. I hadn't seen anything like that before.

Re: Nebraska Football 2023
There's no way that's getting bet very much at all. Guessing it'll go down quite a bit over the next few days. If I bet, I'd take Northwestern, but still not confident enough. It's either gonna be close, or a 56-10 Nebraska blowout, I think. Northwestern does not look good, but on the other hand they beat Minnesota. Go figure.Louie wrote: Thu Oct 19, 2023 2:30 pm I'm reading Nebraska as 11.5 point favorites. Seems aggressive, and I think Busguy is much closer to the accurate point total.

Re: Nebraska Football 2023
It's gotta be the most memorable play in my Husker fandom. Unfortunately I didn't even know about the Huskers in the 90's. I didn't grow up in a sportsy household. So yeah, as far as most memorable plays/games go for me and the games I witnessed, that is #1.mrsticka wrote: Thu Oct 19, 2023 6:50 pm I haven't forgotten what happened 10 years ago when Nebraska beat Northwestern on that last-second Hail Mary. Re: Nebraska Football 2023
Wow, I can't imagine how wild that would have been to actually be there. I watched it, I remember where I was, exactly who else was in the room. One of those "where were you when" moments. Can't believe that was 10 years ago
The other one that comes to mind is the 2015 Michigan State game. Other than that, can't really think of any other epic moments on that level. It's been slim pickins, I hope were due.

Yeah, like I said, it's a darn shame I never watched the Huskers in the 90's. Shame on my parents lol.nebugeater wrote: Fri Oct 20, 2023 5:57 am Unless you are not old enough to remember it, "The Catch" at Missouri by Davidson is hard to forget.....
But yeah, there's that catch, and Tommie Frazier's run in the orange bowl also come to mind. But as I said, those are just history to me, I wasn't part of it.

Re: Nebraska Football 2023
So I wasn't too far off. I listened to a good chunk of the game and it sounded UGLY. This win goes a LONG way for the Huskers, cause apparently Wisconsin and Iowa are both in trouble and that would totally close the gap in the west. I believe it'd be a 3-way tie for second with Iowa up one game. I'll have to check later unless someone gets to it first.
This win goes a long way toward going 6-6. There's no way I don't see two or more wins with this upcoming schedule
Purdue
Michigan State
Maryland
Wisconsin
Iowa
None of them are particularly good, and I really believe the west is wide open should those other games go the way they look. Nebraska very well could somehow win the west.

Re: Nebraska Football 2023
Time will tell. I should point out that Nebraska's record against Wisconsin isn't very good. They've only beaten them once since joining the Big Ten. That was back in September 2012. It came down to the 4th quarter, the game was tied at 27, then Nebraska kicked a field goal to take the lead. They managed to hold Wisconsin scoreless and win.Busguy2010 wrote: Sat Oct 21, 2023 5:47 pm So I wasn't too far off. I listened to a good chunk of the game and it sounded UGLY. On a side note, there was a full moon that night during the game. I think that's the last time Nebraska played under a full moon at Memorial Stadium.
