You should go to the game. It's such a different experience.

I really did not expect the Huskers to be on the verge of going bowling at this point in the season. It looks very likely they'll notch their belt this weekend. Michigan State just stinks. The Huskers haven't allowed more than 14 points in their wins and haven't scored less than 17. Meanwhile, the Spartans are on a 6-game losing streak and every time you turn your head you hear something sketchy coming out of East Lansing. I actually think this will be a comfortable Husker win, 35-10.

Definitely not happy to be so wrong about my gut feel before the game. I didn't care how the play calls at certain points seemed like this was a "test game" for Haarberg as a thrower. They had a lot more pass calls than I've personally seen with Haarberg. I get you gotta develop him, but not when you can get 6 wins if you call runs. 6 wins is the benchmark now, and IMO only next week is the favorable opportunity for that. Facing another uphill battle now.

Next weeks game is in Lincoln that should help. The team seems to play better at home. Just one road win this year at Illinois.

Nebraska's quarterback play today was terrible. I wonder if Simms or Purdy can take some snaps if things go south next week?

Jeff Sims got benched for that very reason. That's why Heinrich Haarberg took his place. He was much better than Sims. Why he was so sloppy today is beyond me.

I think Haarberg the runner would have won the game today. But the play calling lead me to believe the coaches tried to open him up in the passing game, to not much avail. Although I do recall the announcers mentioning Purdy, and then Haarberg immediately threw that nice chunk pass to get out of his own end zone. I saw enough of Purdy last year to know he can't be the better option than Haarberg. I wanted Sims to work out because I wanted to see a big athletic QB for once, but we've stumbled upon Haarberg who can be described as the same. Neither throws well, but I'm really starting to like the timing and the play fakes. Haarberg faked me and the camera people probably 5 times and that probably kept the game close until the end.

That's pretty much the only option (pun intended). I thought the staff had figured that out until today. They had him throw 28 times today, which is much more than the usual 15 or so. Not like they were having trouble running today. So I think this ones on the coaches. Dropped in the standings and only makes next week that much more important.

Still not mathematically eliminated in the west. Iowa is likely to be 6-2 by the time they meet the Huskers. And the Huskers face a real uphill battle to get to 5-3 heading into that game, having to beat Wisconsin first.

Luckily Minnesota, which has the tie breaker, has the toughest route, and I think they'll drop out

Wisconsin and Nebraska have a pretty equally tough few weeks, and face each other.

It might be a really tight finish to the season. I think the Skers still have a shot to win, but I really think the lowest they'll finish is third. And that in itself would be a breath of fresh air. 6 wins first would be nice though.

Ever get the feeling that referees are power drunk? I'm not necessarily talking about Nebraska, but college football and the NFL in general. It seems like every few seconds or so, they'll throw a flag on the field and call a penalty.

Huskers game against Wisconsin will be in primetime on NBC:

The Big Ten Conference and its television partners announced the game time and television information for Nebraska’s Nov. 18 football game at Wisconsin. The Huskers and Badgers will kick off at 6:30 p.m. at Camp Randall Stadium with the game televised on NBC.

The NBC contest will be Nebraska’s first appearance on the network this season. The 2023 football season marks NBC’s first as a broadcast partner with the Big Ten Conference. It will mark Nebraska’s first game on NBC since an overtime victory at Notre Dame in 2000.

With Monday’s announcement, game times and broadcast information are set for Nebraska’s final three regular-season games. This week’s matchup with Maryland at Memorial Stadium will be broadcast on Peacock, NBC’s streaming service, with kickoff set for shortly after 11 a.m. Information on subscribing to Peacock can be found at Huskers.com/watch. The Huskers’ regular-season finale against Iowa on Friday, Nov. 24 will be televised on CBS at 11 a.m. CBS is also in its first year broadcasting Big Ten games, and the Iowa contest will mark Nebraska’s first on CBS since a Gator Bowl victory over Clemson following the 2008 season.

The Iowa O is worse than the Huskers. Their D is solid. If the Husker D can play like they have for the most part and factoring in that the game is in Lincoln it could be a 3-0 Husker win.

If they can't win a 6th game it's going to be a really long long winter. This week against Maryland in Lincoln they've got to get it done.

Wisconsin and Iowa both have Big Reds number, especially Wisconsin and the games In Madison. And Iowa will be extra inspired after last year's loss.

And that would be sweet... I also feel Iowa is winnable, but 3-0 would be the toughest game we've (ever?) seen. Dare I say it could be 2-0?

And it's not far off from what I actually think would happen. I'd love to see that. Especially if it turns out to be the 6th win.

All the remaining games are toss-ups based upon how many turnovers Nebraska has been committing. I'm not buying Maryland as necessarily the best chance for another win. Prior to last week we all would've said it was Michigan St right? Also is everyone aware that last week Wisconsin lost to Indiana and Iowa barely squeaked out a 10-7 win over Northwestern? Iowa's offense is so bad the coach's son(offensive coordinator) is getting fired at the end of the season. So again, Nebraska's best chance at another win is the game they commit the fewest turnovers.

I think they're all pretty much toss-ups too. But I'm just not sure if the Husker defense is good, or the competition has been terrible...? Luckily for the most part, the upcoming competition has been terrible. So we may not find out what the answer is, just win baby!

I would absolutely take 2 and 1. I know this sounds weird but I want no part of the BIg 10 Championship game. It's going to be an awful game no matter who represents the West and who from the East.

Kirk Ferentz is the master at winning close games. Iowas offense is never real good, they are always good at defense and have very few turnovers and penalties, that's how they do it. I think things will be dire for Nebraska if they can't get a win this Saturday.

I'd definitely like them to make it, but yeah, no business being there. They might not even have to go 2-1 to make it. The west is terrible. I think if they go 2-1 and beat Iowa, that might be enough. Haven't played out all the scenarios, but with how jumbled the west has been this year, not much point digging into it until the final week.

But I will lay it all out

Iowa, (4-2) has Rutgers, Illinois, Nebraska

Wisconsin (3-3) has Northwestern, Nebraska, Minnesota

Minnesota (3-3) has Purdue, Ohio State, Wisconsin

Nebraska (3-3) has Maryland, Wisconsin, Iowa

I'm not really sure how the scenarios could work out. I'm sure there's a million ways.

I think the #1 thing we need is for Iowa to miraculously lose out. In that case, they'd be 4-5. Maybe we can afford for them to beat Rutgers, but that's it.

We need Wisconsin to drop Northwestern and Minnesota and they'd be 4-5

We need the Skers to beat Iowa and they'd be 4-5

And Minnesota to drop Purdue and Ohio State so they're 4-5

I still don't really know how it works out, but the bottom line is we need to root for Iowa to lose every remaining game. That's the start. But it looks like a tremendous uphill battle. MAYBE the Huskers can be in the mix if they beat Iowa and/ or Maryland or Wisconsin or all. Iowa is in the driver's seat, unfortunately.

I think I'm going to go to the game this weekend. Being my first game, any tips or tricks? The bug that might prevent me is dealing with traffic and paying for parking. I'm not gonna tailgate so I don't need a spot. Any hidden gems for parking cheap or free with a walk? Any good back routes to the stadium?

The best tips I have are:
- Park at one of the park & ride lots around the city and take the shuttle bus to the stadium
OR
- Park in a neighborhood and take a bike trail to campus
- Expect the Waverly exit to EB80 to be closed on the way back after the game.
- It's worth it to show up early and listen to the band warm up and parade down the west side of the stadium

Book parking online in advance to eliminate some of the headaches.

Uber will not be as cheap as you think.

There is a map link on the web page I linked. I like to use the Lason Building or the University Sq garage. YOu will have to get a long ways away to pay $20

The other option is to park remotely and bus to the stadium on the city shuttles. I do not do that so I cannot speak to how well it works or the time you need to allow

If you do want to park, there's a giant field to the west of Haymarket Park that's only $10 or $15. Then just walk over to the baseball stadium and take the pedestrian bridge closest to I 180. We've had a spot in Haymarket Park Lot 19 since it opened and whenever friends join us, we have them park there. It's cheap and convenient.

I parked there for the first home game this year and it was $20
