I decided not to go for it. Didn't feel like dealing with the crowd and last weeks loss made me less confident in a win today. It's pretty difficult to find a way to predict a Husker win today. Maryland has put up in the range of 24-44 points against their opponents, minus the ranked ones. Granted, none of those teams have been "good", but neither are the Huskers. I think it'll be another nailbiter, but if Northwestern and Illinois can do it, the Huskers can too. Optimistically I'll go with Skers 21-20.

Root Rutgers, Northwestern, Purdue. If they all win there might still be a little window.

Yikes, gotta pretty much hope for a miracle now. Iowa has to both lose to Illinois and Nebraska, and Nebraska has to beat Wisconsin and Iowa. And apparently Northwestern holds a tie breaker for having beat Minnesota and Maryland, despite losing to the Huskers? So we also need Northwestern to drop one of their final games to Purdue and Illinois. I give that scenario about a .05% chance of happening, but there's still technically a way.

The whole west is so open and so bad, I won't rule anyone out until the final bell. Heck, even Illinois and Minnesota have slim chances, I think. Not exactly sure how the tie breakers would work out for any team in this scenario.

#1 thing we need is for Iowa to lose to Illinois, and the Huskers to beat Wisconsin next week. After this weekend, watching Wisconsin and Illinois, I have SOME hope it could pan out.

Huskers are currently 3rd due to tie breakers. However it turns out, I think to be in that position at this very moment in the season is a positive compared to recent years. No matter how hard they are to watch lol.

Probably all 3? I wouldn't doubt it. Surprisingly, I thought Purdy did "best" yesterday. I think it was a really bad play call that led to the interception he threw. He threw it, yes, but I really thought that play had no business being called.

I hope it's abundantly clear now to the coaches that Sims is not a QB. With the lack of depth at the position I'm sure they'll keep him as an option but with the even more depleted receiving core they should try him out there. Sims seems like a nice kid and certainly has an above average athletic ability but after three years of the same carless mistakes putting him behind center equals losing the turnover battle before the game starts.

Granted, the other QBs have turned the ball over too much also but they at least look coachable. Do we currently have the coaches to do that? Satterfield seems in over his head as OC/QB coach. Originally Rhule wanted to hire a dedicated QB coach. That should be an off season priority.

It stands to reason that young QBs are going to make mistakes but why is Nebraska leading the nation in turnovers? It comes down to coaching and play calling. Why is the play calling not putting the QBs in higher percentage throwing situations. It's not all the young receivers fault either. We have one of the top recruited TEs in the country yet Fidone isn't getting targeted enough for what should be easy mid-range yards. His size alone is an obvious mismatch. Also anyone ever hear of a bootleg? Another form of play-action I've yet to see Nebraska run.

The West is absolute parody. As a fan at this point, I'd give up on hoping to win the BIG 10 West vs. becoming bowl eligible. From a recruiting stand point seeing Rhule getting NU back to the post season in his first year would look a heck of a lot better than getting your arse kicked in Indianapolis.

Wish they could find a way to get Fidone the ball more as well, the guy looks way bigger than anyone on the field. Looks like it would take two people to bring him down.

Those goals are almost coming hand in hand at this point.

But you have a good point. They'd probably be better served not to win the west and get |expletive| smacked and embarrassed by Ohio State or Michigan. But they still need to win one more game, unbelievably. Week by week, I really started to believe they should have 7 wins by now. They really created a steep uphill battle.

In hindsight, every game this year except Michigan were/are winnable games.

I agree. Also with Colorado crumbling the way they are, that probably shouldn't have been as big of a loss as it was. All in all I've been happy they've been in almost every game I expected them to be. These next two games should be winnable too, which I wouldn't have said at the start of the season. Expect more of the same, just gotta somehow eek out one more game. I'd be pleased with 6-6.

Love the optimism. But how many times has Nebraska snatched defeat from the jaws of victory over the years? Especially after a great first quarter, kinda like what's happening right now? I'll just wait and see until the game clock is at 0:00 at the end of the 4th quarter to see if they blow it or not.

I know it's early , but this is about as good as I've seen a Nebraska QB play all season. It shows how competitive the team can be when they don't turn the ball over. Still early though a lot of football to play still. This is not a vintage Wisconsin team.

I'll have to say at halftime, I'm very impressed with Chubba Purdy tonight. There's actually a passing game! I love how he's keeping his eyes up looking to pass, but still running well too. Putting good zip on the ball too.

Not comfortable at 14-10 though. Fingers crossed.

It seems like baby steps are being taken in the right direction. Need more playmakers on offense. It's a shame because the Nebraska defense is pretty good this year, no guarantee they will be this good next season.

Big sigh... I hate that they lost, but it was a better product to watch. The defense IS legit. In years past, Wisconsin would have run off into the sunset. At least it was a captivating game. I watched every second of it. I see definite signs of a corner being turned.

Great defense, pretty good QB play, good run game, no turnovers. It was a pretty clean game.

To Jag's point, the missed field goal might have been the difference. But you gotta support Alvano. Omaha Westside product, he has proven he's got the juice throughout high-school and so far in college. He made a 50+ yarder at some point this season. He will be great. Gotta stick by him.
