Haha, I say that all the time...For football I understand, they have had some decent seasons, although its about to get much, much tougher with the additional schools next year and Iowa not getting their cupcake schedule they get every year.

For basketball, Fran is better than Lickliter, their previous coach, but as a fan base I would be embarrassed by his antics long ago. I can't believe all the extensions that he has gotten, but all of that was under the previous AD who is gone now. Clearly their fanbase is growing apathetic, they have only been averaging around 9,700 per game and only about 5,000 are showing each game, pretty pathetic.

Yeah his act is almost embarrassing. When he gets angry at the refs and does the whole stare down thing. I think I am close to him in age and would have a hard time laughing at him trying to intimidate me. Props to the refs for not laughing.
I also don't understand why TV coverage doesn't show much of this. For most coaches that act anything like this, they put the camera on them early and often.

No, never been to a game but it is caught on tv all the time! That’s why he has the reputation he has. All the yelling and screaming, getting red faced and yes the epic stare downs. All this gets on tv!

In that incident you are referring to from last year, if I was the ref, I would have t'd him up right away. Absolutely mind-boggling that he was doing that and not in the team huddle while his team was down by double digits. For his sake, they came back and won, so some people thought it was funny. I am not a fan and even if I was, I would love to see him fired/fined for doing that. People that are close to him say that he is a good guy, but as a university and a representative of the state of Iowa, to hear him constantly dropping f-bombs during timeouts, the stare downs, throwing his arms up and foaming at the mouth, its an absolute embarrassment to the all of them. Funny thing is, I have heard quite a few stories about his wife being the same way. I actually feel sorry for his kids to be raised in that household.

Yeah if I was running the production, I would keep one camera on him at all times. Or at the very least, anytime things start getting heated.

Exactly. If memory serves it was a Big 10 game. The official absolutely should have given him T. So many times they have been given for so much less.

Nebraska in NCAA Tournament?

March Madness is right around the corner, and it's time to get you prepared for the Big Dance. We welcome On3's Bracketologist , James Fletcher III, to discuss what teams have some work to do and which teams are locked up for the top seeds. We also discuss how scheduling has benefitted certain conferences in preparation for March.

Listened to Jacob Bigelow from earlier this week on 1620. He made a point that had me nervous about today’s game. Penn State had a lineup that is very similar to Maryland. If you remember that was a very troublesome line up for NU.

Nice win today. Was closer than I had hoped at halftime but 2nd was impressive. Good defense start to finish.

Incredible thing to say out loud but this team is, after the Iowa OT win over Wisconsin, one game out of third place - with tiebrekaer over Wisconsin - with five immensely winnable games left.
Stable genius.

A couple of those games are on the road and Nebraska's record on the road this season isn't so great. Sure, at home they do pretty great, but on the road they just fall flat on their heads.

Saw this in a Yahoo Sports article about the 10 best players to watch this college basketball season. He definitely has up his game. Was averaging 4.5 pts at Gonzaga the last 2 seasons and currently 18.4/game this season.

Hunter Sallis, Wake Forest

Sallis transferred from Gonzaga for his junior year and has been one of the best two-way guards in the ACC this season. He's combined for 55 points in the last two games while shooting 60% from the field and 53.4% from 3-point range. Wake Forest is fourth in the ACC with a 16-8 overall record and if Sallis continues to put up numbers like he has recently, the Demon Deacons could go from bubble watch to a team that could upset some top programs come tournament time.

It doesn’t mean anything but all 5 remaining games are against teams below them in the Big 10 standings. Hope they can at least win 3.

Agree

The schedule finishes out easier than it seems for many years.
We need three of these five. That means we get at least one road win and get that off their back. I think three regular-season wins get them into the NCAA tourney. Only two, depending on what happens in the conf tournament They will be sitting on the edge of their seats come selection day.

Yeah I agree this is definitely the easiest finish I can remember. I think it's also the easiest part of this year's conference schedule. Then again, it's Nebraska basketball. Nothing ever seems to come easy for us, so I am still incredibly nervous for each game.

Unless they have a game where they are completely embarrassed, I think two wins in the last four get them into the tourney.

I know that the Hooser History and Husker History for Mens BB are polar opposites. That being said, in going to most home games for 20 + years and going when I was in college, I do not recall the Husker BB team ever getting booed at home. Sometimes, they probably should have been, or coaching should have been. They have been met with silence and no-shows but not a boo.

Honestly Nebraska basketball fans are about the most loyal and resilient around. Obviously limited success over the years but the attendance and support doesn't waver. And as you pointed out, haven't done anything close to how Indiana fans and students treated their team last night.
