However, we boldly state who the top 5 incoming conference quarterbacks will be. They are arriving via the portal, recruitment, and Big Ten expansion. They all hope to shake up the pecking order in college football.

Nebraska Huskers Athletics are on the rise! Matt Rhule and his Husker football team and quarterback Dylan Raiola are about to surprise a lot of people in college football. Meanwhile the Nebraska baseball team is in the NCAA regionals. The basketball teams made the NCAA tournament and the volleyball team is one of the best in college athletics. All of this success makes us wonder why Trev Alberts would step down as the Nebraska athletic director to take the same job at Texas A&M. We explore that decision here.

JURY HAS SPOKEN
Speaking of decisions, the jury is in for the wrongful termination lawsuit against Penn State. Former Penn State football team doctor Scott Lynch says football coach James Franklin meddled in his medical decisions involving college football players on the team and that friction between the two cost him his job. A jury agreed with Dr. Lynch. Find out how much the award was right here on Locked on Big 10.

Big Ten and SEC Super Conference Already Happening



The Big Ten and SEC will officially form a college football Super Conference before you know it. In fact, we will argue it is already happening in college football. SEC commissioner Greg Sankey said something very curious about Big Ten commissioner Tony Petitti as recently as last week at the SEC meetings which proves our point; the Super Conference is here.

Other than Ohio State, Oregon and Penn State who are some Big Ten Football Dark Horses who could win the Conference this season? We came up with a list of 5 teams to discuss. Surely this will create a lot of college football debate.

OSU, UO, PSU… VS EVERYBODY ELSE?
Locked on Big 10 is on the record with Ohio State and Oregon as our picks to be in the Big Ten Championship. And we spent a great deal of time in yesterday's podcast talking about how Penn State is probably a college football playoff team. So what about the rest? We will explain each team's chances on our list. And it is only June!

HE IS A GIANT
Also, the recruiting wars are on! Nebraska coach Matt Rule just offered a full ride to a 6 foot 7 inch giant who has not played organized football in two years! Plus he added a running back to possibly run behind him. And Greg Schiano is killing it in Piscataway! During this past recruiting weekend he closed 10 kids to commit on the spot! This brings his recruiting class to 18 kids. Not only that, but all 18 are 3-star players. That is a strong weekend of work.

TV TIME!
We also learned the actual kickoff times and TV networks for the newly expanded college football playoffs. If you are on the east coast you will love the kickoff times, especially for the college football national championship.

This gives us a feel for the cost involved in college stadium renovation projects. Somehow, getting the money never seems to be an issue. A single donor just gave KU $300 milliion!

Same donor also already had his name on the stadium so this wasn't his first gift. Also, $300 Million is now the single largest donation in college athletics.

In all honesty, thats what it should be at this point. College football left behind what it was quite some time ago. No longer playing for the honor of it. I do think the players should rightfully be allowed to make whatever bag they can, but I think its past time for the bigs to stop selling it like its still "college football". Go all in, merge everything, make it "boring" (it already is if you ask me), structure it like the NFL and call it good. With an in-season tournament structure, that guarantees E V E R Y game matters.

That said, I'm still excited to catch every Husker game I can. The season is creeping up on us quickly. I honestly didn't even see it around the corner.

I mean that the season is the tournament. Every one of the 12 games or so is part of a 64 (or so) team bracket. The NFL operates this way. There's then no question what the seedings should be. Record and tie breakers. Not what some committee "feels" the seeding should be.

Whoever comes out on top of each conference at the end of the season, punches a ticket to a 4-team playoff. Fair and square. The argument is settled on the field, every single game, meaning every game is a defacto championship game.

This is a pretty solid idea! My favorite thing about old-time college football was that, to win a national championship, every game was crucial. With the ever-expanding playoff, college football has lost a large part of what made it so unique.

For the sake of keeping it Nebraska related, I picked the other 14 teams for the hypothetical conference based on distance from Lincoln, for our convenience, of course lol.

So this conference would be -

That's just incredibly stupid. Like you said, cancel the regular season then. That bracket would take like a month and a half to complete, and would make for absolutely pointless 1 v 7 or 1 v 14, or whatever matchups. Regardless, even if a higer seed gets lucky and wins a game, they'll probably get bounced in the second round. They shouldn't strive for a Cinderella story for college football, it totally disembodies the work of the regular season.

They need to do away with this nonsense, not add to it. College football has become a circus show already, and they want to make it more of one? Pass, pass, pass. Ill probably even quit watching Husker games if they do that.

The Michigan head coach getting fired and now facing charges for stalking and other crimes is another reason College Football has become a joke. This was always a strange hire. I looked at this guys job resume and in my opinion he was under qualified to become the head coach of a team of Michigan’s prestige and position in college football history. Time to find another coach, choose wisely.

Well that does it! Undefeated Indiana wins their first Natty, making it 3 in a row for the Big10! They also become only the second school ever to have undefeated national champs in football and basketball (UCLA…now also a BIG10 school). I guess it just means more…in the BIG10

This is the first time I've seen him play or speak. Fernando Mendoza is a real standout guy.

I always find it silly and cringey when athletes thank god when they win, but other than that, I'm really happy for Hoosiers. My spouse is from Indiana so I know a lot of them by association. They deserve that title, but next year will be interesting when they were stacked with so many seniors this year.

Mendoza likely going to the Raiders or the Jets and we'll just have to wait and see how that pans out. Elite college QBs don't regularly move on to elite pro players.
