Wow!!! This evening (Saturday, 8/19) was a perfect evening for baseball! A gentle cool breeze from centerfield kept the 'Blatt a perfect 72. Royals got off to a 5-0 lead and win 5-4.The Brats were wonderful. The beer cold. Come out Sunday! You will not be disappointed.

I was at last night's game. While it did not look like 8,000 it did look like 6,000 to me. A pretty decent attendance.

Such a nice day for today's game. The Zephyr's melted down in the 9th and gave us free extra innings, free bread, and Wags Cowboy and I all got free tickets. And oh yeah - there was a babe watch going on also

It was kids day. 2,660 no shows? No wonder we got free tickets. I got mine from a precious 6 year old girl (mom watching proudly on). Now I know when to attend a game. Watch for promo games where orgs over-buy tickets! At $3.50 for a bottle of water they still got my mulla.Omaha World Herald wrote:an estimated 4,000 (8,660 paid) at Rosenblatt Stadium

The Nationals? Go figure. I would have put money on the Zephyrs NOT being a Nationals club. Do you know if they were the Expos before that then. This has to be a new arrangement.Omaha Cowboy wrote:FYI Mark..

I couldn't find any reference to the Zephyrs being affiliated with Montreal, but theywere affiliated with the Milwaukee Brewers when the team moved to New Orleans from Denver in '923. Since the move, they had also been affiliated with the Astros.

The team was previouslythe Denver Bears of the American Association and Pacific Coast Leagues. The team moved to Denver in 1956 from KC, where they were the "Blues", to make room for the "A's".

The ORoyals lead the entire PCL in attendance last night with 12,050 total at Friday nights game..That pushes the ORoyals to 13th out of the 16 PCL teams with a total attendance mark of 307,351. An average of 4656 per game..3 games in three days at Rosenblatt remain (Sat/Sun/Mon)..I will be in attendance on Sunday as I hope a number of you will join me (see the Sticky thread here)..And possibly on Monday too..
Not lost in this is the fact that Omaha lost 3-2 last night
..
Get out and see one of the remaining ORoyals games!..

Well..Only 2 people joined me for the Sunday game at Rosenblatt (DTO Luv and the1wags) which was dissapointing..But it was a perfect weather day at the park and fun was had by all..
To add to the dissapointment of the meager eomaha attendance, was the ORoyals losing once again to Iowa 7-4 in front of 4,167 fans..The effort was there by the Royals..But just like this entire season, not the talent..
The total ORoyals season attendance now stands at 314,491..
There is 1 home game left..Tommorrow (Labor Day) at 1:35PM in the afternoon..
See if you can make it to the park and show some season ending support for the team..

Well..the1wags and I attended the final ORoyals game of the season at Rosenblatt Monday afternoon..A perfect day for baseball..
Before a fairly decent afternoon crowd of 5,286, Omaha dropped a 4-3 decision and finished at a franchise worst 53-91 for the year..
The ORoyals total attendance for 2006 finshed at 319,777..And although unofficial at the moment of this post, ended up 13th out of the 16 PCL teams in total attendance and per game average..
Hopefully next season, with the good possibility of young prospects playing in Omaha; and better promotion from the new ownership of the team, we'll see an improved attendance and atmosphere for the ORoyals games at Rosenblatt..The trick, seemingly, is to convice Omahans that Rosenblatt Stadium stays open after the College World Series ends
..
In any case, I'll post final totals once the PCL site is updated..
..Ciao..LiO....Peace

I made it yesterday, and it was an awesome day to watch a ball game. The ending of the game was gripping. I too hope that we start seeing better talent promoted to Omaha before going to KC. As the AAA affiliate, we should have the cream of the crop prior to going on to the majors.

Royals Post Highest Attendance in Four Years
Our Sports Central wrote:The Omaha Royals drew 319,777 fans to Rosenblatt Stadium during their 2006 season, which wrapped up on Labor Day. It was the largest season total for the Kansas City Royals' Triple-A affiliate in the past four years.
This year's total attendance figure was the best for the team since the 2002 season, when 344,718 fans came to watch the Royals play. Omaha's average attendance over 69 home dates in 2006 was 4,634 per game, up from the 4,278 average posted in 2005, an increase of better than eight percent.
The 2006 season, which marked the 19th consecutive year that over 300,000 fans visited Rosenblatt to watch the O-Royals, also brought the club's all-time attendance over the 10-million mark. Since the franchise began play in 1969, a total of 10,228,780 fans have attended the team's games over a total of 2,461 dates. The average attendance in the 38-year history of the team is 4,156.

makeitso-
I'm a little puzzled with your post as this is an Omaha Royals AAA pro baseball thread..Not a college baseball thread..And we all here are already very aware that seemingly every year the CWS sets some sort of new attendance record..
Nonetheless, welcome to the forum..
Can I get a 'say what' and a thread revival please..

I was just contrasting the CWS figure - which is much closer to a true attendance figure and achieved over 14 sessions - with that of the Royals - over 69 games and inflated by 300%.

I'd say someone is trolling. Even in the event of the O Royals inflating their attendance numbers, what is the purpose of comparing this "300% inflated" number to the CWS numbers other than to try to drag the Royals through the mud? This is also going on in the Knight hockey thread and I, for one, am tired of it. If you don't happen to enjoy a local sports product, or a restaurant, or whatever, then don't go. But getting on a internet website and starting to rip on whatever event/establishment for the sole purpose of stirring the pot is the act of someone who has too much free time, to put it nicely.
