Actually both of these guys are wrong, the Big 12 sent 4 teams (Texas, Kansas, OU, A&M).

However, it is correct for joemoney to say that the Big 12 had an off year, while the MVC had an unusually good year in landing teams in the tournament. The 'Dan Hawkins analogy' is correct in this instance. :)

All I am saying is it was the Big XII's WORST year the MO Valley's BEST year and they were STILL behind them.

Do you know that Nebraska gave over 4,000 tickets away to NU booster clubs to PREVENT creighton fans from buying all the tickets.
I think this is kind of funny to say when I recall the last NU/CU game I was at in the Qwest Center, the fans wearing red outnumbered those wearing blue. With enrollment what it is at CU, and their phenomenal season ticket sales figure, I have to wonder how many fair weather NU fans in Omaha, cheer on Creighton until the Huskers come to town?

Yes valley had a nice run last year but that is over.....Dana belongs in the Mo Valley he learned his lesson when he was at KSU!
Learned his lesson at KSU, he turned that program around big time. Before altman they were awful, with him they were in post season, funny how the team never came back after he left (until now with the new coach and all). Then how do you explain why he has been given offeres to jobs like ILLINOIS (FACT that he was offered the job, his name was not just speculated, he turned it down because they wouldn't let him bring his assistants with him), MIAMI, TENNESSEE and many others. Don't pull that |expletive| on me, thats a lame excuse.

With the being the best team in the valley, yea, maybe on paper, obviousely not in real life. Don't discredit the entire league because the top team is overhyped. Southern Illinios, Wichita St, and MO state are real deep this season, don't be suprised to see them make some noise.

Whatsallthefuss, you obviousely are clueless, there is no way in heck nebraska fans outnumber Creighton fans at the qwest, give me a break. Yes, there are a large number of them, but we aren't outnumbered. By the way, CU's undergrad enrollment is something like 3,500, so there went the students dont care argument, there just simply aren't very many of the. Give me a break. You also argue that there are many fair whether fans in Omaha. Maybe consider that the primer season tickets are held by businesses, so maybe fair whether sponsors, but not fans.

JoeGlow-I was comparing Drake and KU simply based on location. I was trying to make similar traveling comparisons.

Hmm the atmosphere doesnt seam as fun down there is Lincoln as it does at the Q. I love going to CU games at the Q because it's such a good time.

Have to chuckle at this. I went to the game with a couple of Creighton season ticket holders and we were not able to sit together. After the game it never came up but it did on Monday ( the atmosphere) . They brought it up unprompted and this came from as a completely off the cuff comment. They both agreed that the Atmosphere in Lincoln was GREAT and that the Creighton people could learn a thing or two about using the resources they have to get and keep the crowd in it. They like the CU home crowd but acknowledged that it could be better. Granted this was one of the better crowds that has been in the BDSC in a while for a non conf game but it was rocking. This is what it can be.

I have been to many games in Lincoln and a fair number in Omaha both at the Q and the Civic. They are both nice and have their advantages but to say there ?is not a good atmosphere in Lincoln is shortsighted. MTO , have you ever been to a game in Lincoln.

Yes Dana was offered jobs at power conferences and each one was turned down....The reason is he's scared...He enjoys beating up on the little mo valley teams...end of story

OK, that;s just stupid! Dana could coach anywhere and continually gets new offers. Let's just hope he remains at Creighton.

Agreed too - and that comes from a Husker fan. Creighton is a good job and Dana is a great coach. CU is lucky to have him and doing the right things to keep him. He will continue to have offers and if things stay the same at CU he will stay put. He has one of the best facilities in the country to play in, fan support, the chance to play in the ncaa tourney on a reg basis and a conference that is gaining respect. saying he is scared to move on is ridiculous.

All that being said I hope that in the future the same can be said for a second team in Nebraska in the future. I often wounder what KSU would have today if they had not gotten jumpy and given Dana a chance to build.

First off Nice win by CU today over a good opponent esp for a home game at this point in the season.

After following this thread I found it VERY interesting listing to the post game show by Matt P. He basically called out the CU fans for being their but not getting into the game. He straight out said ( I will not have it word for word) The CU fans need to go to Lincoln when the D is full and learn how to be fans and how to be loud. They should not have to be told on the big screen when to cheer. He said that you could hear a pin drop with 2 min left in the game and everything on the line. He was realistic that it is not always this way in Lincoln, but when the people are there they know how to be a part of the game.

I agree, the crowd sucked today, 15,400 people and the only time anyone cheered was when 1) they were told to on the big screen, and 2) during the last posession of the game. It is really sad. I do think having a majority of the students gone was a factor, but still, the other 15,000 people need to do something and stop sitting on their hands. Like perrault said, "trained monkeys."

Thats comming from one of the Jays biggest fans folks, me. So don't get all attacking me CU fans, most of you are pathetic at games. The rest of you, keep it up, it will only get better.

Don't worry about being attacked, you seem to be the only one that attacks. So unless you are into self mutilation, you should be ok.

Perrault must be reading the eomahaforums  . Seriously, this is not unusual for Creighton games, rather the crowd being involved is what is unusual. I think the problem for Creighton is the same fans that sit on their hands and get annoyed when people cheer at Husker football games are the same people who are at the Creighton games (yes, Creighton boosters, most of your fans are husker football fans, that is what makes your ardent support of Creighton all the more funny.)

Anyways, good win against a quality opponent by Creighton. Hopefully, they can build some momentum and go on a winning streak so they can help the Huskers' RPI :;):

right i am attacking them, because 90% of them suck and someone needs to tell them that. And its comming from one of their own, so thats why they need to not make excuses and just freakin cheer at games.

While it is nice to have a full arena if the fans want to act as though they are watching it on TV then stay home and watch something on TV. I have been a season ticket holder in Lincoln for the last seven years since moving back to Nebraska. As I have stated here I have also attend some CU games but not as many. I will take the atmosphere in Lincoln any day over that in Omaha and even on games when the place is not filled. One thing is for sure in Lincoln, if you have been in the stands the last few years it is because you wanted to be there! As far as a multi purpose area goes The Q has it won hands down but there is nothing wrong with the game day experience for men’s BB in Lincoln with the exception of revenue generating luxury boxes.

Here is my hope for the coming year. the Huskers can learn to win a few and fill the place and the Jays can keep it going and learn to become more involved fans.

Big Boys in the Big 12... Thats a laugh. As far as basketball goes, Nebraska looks like a band of crying girls when compared to other big 12 teams. Just because Kansas and Oklahoma are good does NOT mean that you are. Also, the Big 12 may be good but the Valley is better. The Big 12 has a few good teams, and thats it, and even the "powehouse" kansas that makes your conference worthwhile, has now lost to Oral Roberts and DePaul.

It is shocking that people in Nebraska think that their mediocre basketball team is worth the price of a ticket. I know that you blame your repeated worthlessness on the fact that you think the Big 12 is a good conference. I know that you think that you are unfairly judged in comparison to creighton soley on your record every year simply because of you think that your conference is more difficult. The simple fact is, the MVC is a better basketball conference and if you woke up and payed attention to NCAA basketball, you may see it plastered all over ESPN every day.

Heres are reminder though, Creighton has beaten Nebraska 7 of their last 8 games. The VALLEY and The big 12 had 4 teams in the tournament last year. Two Valley teams made the Sweet 16, and only lil ole Texas made it there from the Big 12... with your powerhouse (and only shot at a title) kansas getting destroyed in the first round by lil ole MVC team Bradley.

Think About that.

OK - we can lay to rest the Mo Valley vs 'major' conference talk.
The past few years have proven that the Valley can play with the top 10 and win.
Wichita St. already has wins at LSU and Syracuse. Missouri St. beat Wisconsin. Northern Iowa has beaten Iowa and Iowa St. Southern Ill. beat Minnesota. Even Illinois St. Beat St. John's worse (78-65) than Texas did (77-76).
The Valley is finally getting the respect they dseserve and it is because they are winning big games every week.

I hate to attack people directly but I honestly {Admin Edit}... The Huskers were practically falling over themselves to get Dana to come to UNL, and I do not blame them. Why didn't he go? Because the Valley is a better conference with BETTER teams.

And... Why on earth would Dana go from Creighton to UNL??? Creighton's basketball program is better in EVERY SINGLE WAY. It would be like trading in a Ferrari for a Ford. Why would he move from a team that constantly wins to a team that is an "easy win" for everyone in its conference. Move to a team that he destroys year after year after year. Why would he move from Omaha's Quest Center to a the Bob Devany Center in a Podunk Lincoln Nebraska. I drove over to watch the game, pulled onto NePork.org Lane and nearly died of laughter.

The point I am trying to make is, Dana Altman would be better off shooting himself in the foot then taking a job at a school like Nebraska. This is the second time in this thread that you have reffered to the Big 12 as if you belong in that conference. Nebraska Basketball is a 3rd class team in a power conference soley because their football team has some merit. You went 7-9 last season and the way you played even that is impressive.

Remember, before you bash on Creighton for being in the MVC (which will be better then the Big 12 this season), think about how crappy your own team performs in the conference that is far beyond its ability to keep up with.

In case you dont wanna take my word for it, listen to Dickie V.
